The Sound of Music

There are some people and some stories that are so powerful there is nothing more to add. Today’s story is one of them.

Meet Patrick Henry Hughes.

After hearing music so sweet I think we need something light, yet sweet. So here is one of my favorite desserts.

I often eat fruit for dessert. First, it is healthy and second, it helps me get my 5-6 daily servings of fruits and vegetables doctors tell us we should eat.

Wait till summer comes and peaches are at their peak. I have two desserts that are too delicious. You will love them.

But for now, I will share this Martha Stewart recipe from Everyday Foods magazine. She made this with pecans. I substitute walnuts because they are less expensive.

It is delicious, easy, and very inexpensive. It is so easy I sometimes have it for breakfast. I love eating dessert for breakfast!!! Don’t you?

Featured Recipe      Pears With Honey and Walnuts
This is what you will need for 3 people:

2 pears, any kind will do                                $1.34

4-5 ounces (¼ pound) of walnuts                   $1.12

6 tablespoons of honey                                  $1.11

Cost for 3 people = $3.57

Cost for 1 person = $1.19

Here is what you do:

Halve the pears lengthwise.

Core the pears with a melon baller or a spoon.

Roughly chop the walnuts.

Mix honey and walnuts together in a bowl and mound onto the pear halves. (Or do as I do, mound the walnuts in the pear and then just squeeze some honey over them.)

I leave you with more music from Patrick Henry Hughes.
