Christmas Eve Fun

Christmas Eve can be a long night. What can I do to help pass the hours?

Well, I have a great line up for you of three videos to help pass some of the time whether you are a child or an adult who still believes in the magic of Christmas. One of the videos could take all night. How would your children love to watch Santa deliver toys all over the world? Well they can. The link is provided below.

Let’s get started with MTTD’s Christmas Eve line up.

The Digital Nativity Story

This video is currently making the rounds on the internet. Several friends have emailed it to me. And several folks have twittered it. I think it is very clever. It is the story of the Nativity brought up to date for an internet and technology savvy world. No matter how you tell it, it is still an amazing story.

NORAD Tracks Santa Claus Visiting Every Child

Did you know that the North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as NORAD, tracks Santa’s every movement as he delivers toys and gifts around the world?

And YOU can watch it all with NORAD by clicking this link, Track Santa.

At this site you can view videos and track Santa LIVE on Christmas Eve on Google Earth. There is a kid’s countdown to take-off, a section about Santa, and another about NORAD.

The tradition of tracking Santa began in the 1950’s with a misprint in a telephone number. Fortunately a kind and good-humored Colonel took the first wrong number and gave updates of Santa’s where abouts to the children calling in. You can read that story by clicking the following link, Why.

Below is a video of the highlights of Santa’s journey in 2009 to give you a flavor of how NORAD tracks Santa. I have been watching this for over eight years now. I am always thrilled when I see Santa’s sleigh take off from the North Pole. And watching Santa navigate the Alps is breath taking.

Be sure to let your children watch too!!!! Don’t hog that computer screen.

Waiting For Santa

Just plain cute. I had to share.

½  cup Hugs

4 teaspoons Kisses

4 cups Love

1 cup Special Holiday Cheer

3 teaspoons Christmas Spirits

2 cups Goodwill Toward Man

1 Sprig of Mistletoe

1 medium-size bag of Christmas Snowflakes (the regular kind won’t do !)

Here is what you do:

Mix hugs, kisses, smiles and love until consistent.

Blend in holiday cheer, peace on earth, Christmas spirits and good will toward men.

Use the mixture to fill a large, warm heart, where it can be stored for a lifetime, (it never goes bad !)

It is especially good when accompanied by Christmas Songs and family get-togethers.

Serve to one and all.
